We are planning a field trip to Yellowstone National Park. The field trip is scheduled to be held on June 8th, 2011. Since it is a two-hour drive to the park entrance we will leave early in the morning and not return until late evening, so please make your travel plans home accordingly if you plan to join us in Yellowstone.
Please note that we are not permitted to conduct any sampling or experiments at Yellowstone National Park because we do not have the necessary science permits. We will be there on an educational waiver. In the park, we will be required to stay on all marked trails and boardwalks. If you wish to conduct your own sampling at the park, you will need to arrange for the necessary permits on your own. We apologize if this news dissappoints, but these are the rules we have to follow.
At this point we have at least two different research faculty members from the Thermal Biology Institute at MSU and Colorado School of Mines interested in leading the field trip. We will take a tour through the main part of Yellowstone National Park, stopping at several key locations for guided hikes.
For a peek at some of the spectacular things there are to see in the Park, check out these photographs taken by AbGradCon organizers on past visits to YNP. Click to see each image enlarged.
